Craft Day at the Chateau
When Mason went to Europe, he brought me back a pack of cigarettes from every country he went to. I framed them over top of a collage of anatomy drawings from our Mom’s old nursing textbook. I’m going to scrap that frosted part off at some point so the labels are easier to read, but I’m pretty happy with it.
It’s been a quiet day.
Young Mason and Cail with cousin Phil. Halloween, early 90’s. Buffalo, NY.
Man, I loved that Snoopy shirt. I’d forgotten Mason used to be a Green Bay fan.
Looking forward to having this fine young man back, after a year and a half abroad. Picking him up from the airport tomorrow.
Welcome home, buddy.
What better way to celebrate my one-thousandth (grammatically correct?) post than by sharing a picture of Mason, his beard and his bathrobe. Go west, young man.
Also, if you look closely you’ll see I’m wearing a turtleneck sweater.
“I’m carrying all my weight tonight,” he mumbled to himself.
Trudging up and down the boulevards he haunted the space between the neon patches of dandelion fire and quicksand marble archways.
With a garbage can moan and a 10 dollar suit he had watched it all slip away.
Some prey…
Happy 24th birthday, Mason. You are loved and missed. And as you can see, ladies, he looks good in a mustache.
(On this side of the world, Mason’s birthday is tomorrow, but in South Korea he is 24 today. He lives in the future.)
Skype? Free to download. Being able to watch your brother open his presents with your family while he’s in South Korea and make fun of his lack of facial hair at the same time? Priceless.
Merry Christmas.
